In 1996 writer-adventurer Mark Newman traveled to the Galapagos Islands. He stayed in the famed archipelago for longer than Charles Darwin had and visited more than twice as many of the islands. Here is his fascinating account of that journey, undertaken partly by Brigantine Schooner, partly by kayak, and partly on foot. Globetrotters, wildlife enthusiasts, armchair explorers, and Darwin history buffs will all find this book irresistible.

Galapagos In Darwin Footsteps eBook Mark Newman

I read it right before heading to the Galapagos. It gave me some great insight and knowledge in what I was about to experience. It was easy reading - not like a history book or even a tour book. I would recommend if you are planning a trip there.

Galapagos In Darwin Footsteps eBook Mark Newman Reviews

Great, easy and interesting book to introduce us to The Galapagos
Short read, good info for anyone going to the islands to learn about the turtles, birds and life on the islands.
Quick read and gives a good background on the islands and Darwin.
Definitely an interesting read. Very good source of information on the Galapagos and Darwin's visit.
From the eyes to the pen of a world famous photogapher. Led me toMark Newman's othrr
My wife and I are planning on visiting the Galapagos this month. I felt it was important to have some background before visiting. Galapagos gives a good history of the animals on the island and what Darwin did while on the island.

I expected a little more on how ecuador ended up with the islands. But I did receive a good read on the animals I would encounter, which will prepare me for our visit.

This would be a good read for people visiting the islands for the first time.
A relatively short read describing a five week visit to the islands. Wonderful photos (I read the Edition, and so cannot say for sure, but based on the format I suspect that the printed version is not a coffee table photobook). Most of the facts about the wildlife and such are mentioned in more comprehensive books (such as Henry Nichols book on the Galapagos). Yet, the personal angle was refreshing.
I read it right before heading to the Galapagos. It gave me some great insight and knowledge in what I was about to experience. It was easy reading - not like a history book or even a tour book. I would recommend if you are planning a trip there.
