This is a terrible book. Of all of the things that could have been said about Amy Carmichael on a child’s level, this author picked ridiculous, meaningless stories. There is no continuity to the story. I am very disappointed. I bought it to give to a girl in my Sunday School class who wants to be a missionary. This book is so bad that I can’t even give it to her. The author calls the missionary trip an “adventure” . It was a waste of money.Tags : Amy Carmichael: Can brown eyes be made blue? I loved this book! I have three kids (4, 3 and 18 months), and the older two loved reading and engaging with this book. The product itself is well-made, and the content is great for preschoolers and young elementary. There aren't many resources like this out there!
I wish this talked about God more. there were a few random very short stories about her childhood that had nothing to do with God and I didn't understand the point. I think they were trying to show that she was daring and adventurous but that's most definitely not the only reason people become missionaries. It also ended abruptly. None of the stories were fully developed. I get that it's targeted toward younger kids but it was too simple, in my opinion
The story didn't make sense. It talks about how naughty Amy Carmichael was as a kid and then jumps to the fact that God gave her brown eye because He knew she would grow up to work in India.
I read this to my preschool class. We were studying missions and what it means to be a missionary. This book fulfilled my purpose very well.
Wonderful, Godly story for young children
Nicely illustrated shorter child's version
Good book for teaching children God can use them as they are
