If you read for the story, this book is excellent for you. It is well plotted, characters are well developed and your interest will not flag. The downside is the editing. This book is riddled with spelling errors and misuse of synonyms and homonyms. Sometimes there are several errors on one page. This pulls me out of the story while I figure out if the author was trying to say what she wrote or there was an error. Sentence construction is at times deplorable. The author needs a good editor to match the level of storytelling. Still, as mentioned, the story itself is great. I will read more from the author in hopes she found someone to exorcise the problems.Tags : Winter's Storm: Retribution (Winter's Saga Book 2) - Kindle edition by Karen Luellen. Winter Storm Retribution Winter Saga Book 2 eBook Karen Luellen Reviews
This book introduces new character, a metahuman that was sent to kill Margo Winters. He met her daughter and when he had the opportunity to kill her he could not do it. He started to have feelings for the girl and he could not kill her Mother. He decided in this book to join the Winter's and stop trying to kill them. Meg was hurt with a poison dart and she was very ill. He tried everyway he could to help the family get medical care needed for Meg. Great book lots of excitement and very hard to put down. The book takes on a new experience for the ending that keeps you going to the next book.
The second book was better than the first! This is quickly becoming a series I will be a loyal supporter of! I loved in this book how we were able to get more glimpses into the minds of so many other characters. At first, I wasn't sure I liked the idea of Creed as an additional person to read about. I thought he might distract from the original characters of Meg, Alik and Evan, but he didn't. I ended up loving him and truly feeling happy for him in the end. I secretly love the idea of him and Meg ending up together. I know they're young but you can tell he cares deeply for Meg. I was a little upset with Cole at the end of the book! I'm not very happy with the selfish decision he made and I'm leery of the consequences he'll endure both physical and emotional.
I'm extremely excited about where the third book will take us. Personally I hope they are able to go into hiding in order to have the needed time and training that will be necessary to fight the war against Dr.Williams! I love when books have sneaky elements of hiding and chasing and not knowing who's lurking in the shadows. It makes it more fun than an all out fight or battle! Anyhow, I'll definitely get the next book for my and I'm very much looking forward to the release date!!!
This book was better than the first! My favorite thing about this book is that we get to learn more about the other characters that were sort of secondary in the first book. In Winter's Awakening, Meg is the main character, and we view most of what is happening through her eyes. In Winters' Storm, we get to know Alik and Evan more, and are introduced to Creed.
I loved that we got to see these character's grow, and that we get to see Alik and Evan as more than just Meg's goofy little brothers who like to play with the plumbing.
I also love the dynamic between Creed and Meg, and how it creats a tense little love triangle between Creed, Meg, and Cole. I love how we get to dive into Cole's emotions as he struggles to keep up with his friends, who are all super-powered meta-humans.
Another thing I loved about this book was that we got to learn a bit more about what makes Dr. Williams so evil. And just when you think he couldn't get any more sinister, a neat little plot twist magnifies his evil ten-fold, and you're left with chills racing down your spine as you realize just how much the evil doctor is capable of.
A small issue i had with this book was the shifting in point of view. In the first book this happened chapter to chapter and so it was easier to follow. In this one, however, from time to time there was a POV switch in the middle of a chapter, which could be a bit confusing, but only for a second. Luellen is a such a good story teller that I completely forgot about this as I read.
A thrilling read from cover to cover, better than the first! Once again, the story leaves us hanging, biting our nails in anticipation of what will happen next.
Creed Young is more than a mere human, Called a metahuman, Creed has been born, bred and trained to be a killer. His psychology is that of a man much older who has spent a lifetime training to follow orders without question or hesitation. His home in a barrack in Germany is little more than what is given to the most basic of soldiers, but Creed is only 18. A child with the honed mind and body of a man twice his age.
Dr. Williams is a man with a plan. That plan involves breeding metahumans who will be for sale to the highest bidder. Creed is just one of many awaiting assignments. An assignment that will bring destruction to the unsuspecting.
In the second book of the three book saga Creed is sent to bring back three metahumans who escaped many years previously. While he is meant to bring them back alive, certainly anyone who gets in his way can easily be disposed of.
The Winter family is in hiding. Knowing Dr. Williams has not forgotten their escape they keep a low profile in the hope of not being found. Little do they know their hiding place has been discovered, and Creed is coming for them.
This was a well written, complex Young Adult novel with characters that are believable, realistic and interesting. With a bit of romance, some action and a plot line that keeps you turning the pages it is well worth reading.
As the second in the saga it is a complete book on its own and you will not have to read the first to keep up with the plot or action.
